Nobody has any ideas?
Yes the handle came with that little bracket, I will look again for the move plate and bolt. The seat belt light is to the right of the speedometer, it goes off if I click the passenger belt but if it's not buckled the light stays on even if the passenger seat is emptyDid the new door handle come with the bracket where the cable mounts to? The brackets often bend and put slack in the cable that goes from the handle. There is also a cable adjustment ahead of the handle 1 10mm bolt and move a plate.
As for a passenger seatbelt light, I didn't know that was a thing. I've seen a passenger airbag-off light on the console below the shifter iirc? Where is the passenger seatbelt warning light?
Yes the passenger airbag light is not illuminate when seat is empty, so which sensor is the occupancy one? I looked under the seat and there are multiple plugs etc. Here's a pic of the seat belt lightI'll try to find a pic of that adjuster plate. There's 2-10mm bolts on it. If you back off one of the bolts you can slide it and it'll take some of the slack out of the cables. I've had to do this on a few vans. Hopefully that fixes yours.
Does the orange passenger airbag(off)light turn off, as if nobody is on the seat? Orange airbag light should be on when nobody is on the seat and off when it's occupied. If it's off when seat is empty then maybe the occupancy sensors are messed up or need to be recalibrated. My scan tool shows a procedure to reset them but gives an error when I try to reset them.
I found a key on/off procedure for resetting the airbags but nothing for the seat but I will look into it. I see what you mean for those se sorts, looks like a pain to get those offThere are 2 occupancy sensors on the seat tracks. They mount between the seat tracks and the seat base. Both sensors are on one of the rails, right or left(I can't remember which). If you unplug them they'll throw an airbag code so then the red airbag light will light up on the speedo cluster and all airbags may become inopperable...So that's fun. I tried bypasing the sensors with zero luck. Iirc they have at least 3 wires to each sensor.
I recall a thread where someone posted a key-on-key off procedure to reset the seat sensors? Might be worth a try?

Hmmm, I skimmed through this, just to be familiar with the problem if I ever have it. This last comment caught my attention. If you replaced the assembly and no change, maybe the problem isn’t THERE. Where does the cable go? Could the cable have slipped on the other end?I will try adjusting it. Yes the handle pulls the cable but needs to pull it like a 1/2" more to open
I didn't replace the latch assembly, only the door handle assembly. The latch assembly picture I just took a ss of for reference of the adjuster boltHmmm, I skimmed through this, just to be familiar with the problem if I ever have it. Ok, adjusted that plate and now the door opens easy. So I guess that old handle stretched the cables some when it wore out so after the new handle it still needed so.e slack taken out. Thanks a ton for the help.Yes, that the one, the upper silver headed bolt. When you use the outer handle does anything happen? I assume the cable moves and just not enough? Can you pull(using pliers) on the cable(after disconnecting it from outer handle) and open door that way?
I just had a van in the shop that had the outer handle break off on the outside. Haven't seen that one before.
That was my point. If I understand you correctly the adjustment on the door handle assembly doesn’t adequately shorten the cable. Well, can it be shortened at the latch assembly?I didn't replace the latch assembly, only the door handle assembly. The latch assembly picture I just took a ss of for reference of the adjuster bolt
Glad you got that door part figured out!Ok, adjusted that plate and now the door opens easy. So I guess that old handle stretched the cables some when it wore out so after the new handle it still needed so.e slack taken out. Thanks a ton for the help.
Now I just gotta figure out the occupancy sensor situation. Is there a way to test them or should I just replace both sensors? Hopefully it is one of those and not the occupancy sensor module.
Well I can't find anything on how to do it myself, Nissan says after replacing the ocs sensors or module that you need to perform a "Zero Point Reset" which I can't find a how to on. Not sure if I just need to reset mine since the passenger seat was removed at one point or if the sensor / module is bad also. I'm sure the dealer will want to change it all and charge a grand. Not sure what to do.Glad you got that door part figured out!
As for the seat....I don't know exactly how those sensors work. They're pretty finicky. I unbolted them from a seat(and left them plugged in) and it set the airbag light.
My scan tool shows a recalibration procedure for the occupancy sensors but it doesn't seem to work properly when I try it. I can't see any live data for them either so I'm not sure what I'd do in your case? Have you checked for any airbag or occupancy sensor module trouble codes? I'd hate to recommend a dealer take a look but that might be an idea instead of firing off the parts cannon at it.
I don't have a service manual for these things, I should probably look into that one day..
I appreciate that, no codes when I hook up my old scanner. Do you think if I just buy both sensors new and replace them...will I still have to do the zero point reset?Do you know if there are any codes stored for either the airbag module or the ocs module? My autel scan tool shows the option to do the zero point reset but it says something like conditions not met or something like that when I tried to do it.
I'll be fighting with those sensors one of these days, maybe later today or sometime next week. I'll try to make a video of how to get in there if it helps. I don't remember there being wiring in the passenger seat belt buckle but it's been a while since I had one apart.
I do know that to get to the occupancy sensors the seat has to be removed, then pull some plastic off around the track, flip seat upside down. Both sensors are mounted between the seat bottom/cushion and the seat track. The sensor is a weird looking metal bracket thing, I'm not bright enough to figure out hth it works. I tried bypassing it with a resistor once with no luck. I think if it has no or too little pressure it'll throw a trouble code and the red airbag light on the speedo cluster will flash(indicating airbag fault). They're finiky things.
