Cheers mate i made one in the end, made a metal arch then mounted a jag opening arm rest
it works fine and looks pretty good

My cupholders on 2017 are front to back. not left and right. does that armrest cup holder insert rotate?

No, it doesn't rotate the support is fixed with screws, so you may have to make new holes and modify the support
