External passenger door handle

Hi guys, my passenger door handle on the outside wouldn’t work, so I took it apart and found the cable was out of the clip, so put it back together and tested and all worked fine.... until I lock the van and unlock, then the external handle doesn’t work, the inside does, so you open it using that, then the outside works again until I lock it. Has anyone else had this before?
