NV200 Gearbox woes

Hoping to get some thought on this please.

I had difficulty selecting gears on my NV200 2nd in particular. The gears got slightly easier once the engine warmed up.

My mates garage fitted a new clutch and pressure plate and new gearbox oil. Sadly this has not remedied the problem.

I still find shifting into second first thing in the morning tight and on a occasion (once twice a day) I may get a very small almost crunch.

The van has done 86k and is 5 years old. It has been serviced at the recommended intervals and has had oil and filter changed every 6k instead of the 12.5 k suggested.

Any advice on curing this issue would be welcome

Took my van back to the mechanic today. He called the gear box specialist how advised putting in slightly thinner oil. His reasoning is that a broken gear box would not improve when it gets warmer.

The oil specified by Nissan is 75 - 90 I believe. The mechanic has now put in 75 - 80

It only went in this afternoon but already the gear changes feel much better. The real test will be tomorrow morning. Will keep you posted.
I posted a similar problem back in October 2014 with no response at all. My NV200 has only 21,000 miles on it and the gearbox started to get crunchy at about 19,000 miles - I was not impressed. It is bad out of 1st and into 2nd, also bad from 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st. It felt really bad and sometimes was VERY stiff and crunchy 1st to 2nd, as though it didn't want to move out of 1st.
I thought the synchro had broken - but read about oils breaking down causing crunchy changes. I bought the best synthetic oil I could find (very expensive) and this made only a slight improvement, still quite bad when cold but easier when the engine was hot. I gave it about a month then bought some cheap thinner viscosity synthetic oil and this has made a noticeable improvement. Still have to 'feel it into gear' a bit especially when cold but when warm the crunch has been reduced to a slightly notchy feel. Just occasionally it will still crunch slightly either way between 1st and 2nd - but at least it doesn't feel like the gearbox is broken, and I am happy to change gear sensitively, hopefully for many thousands of miles yet.
It was so bad I thought about part exchanging the van - but cost wise, a new gearbox would have been cheaper (just). But now I have the thin oil in there I am happy to run it until the box is useless.

The manual vans require 70w 80...
This is in German... but you can see that the auto oil is down to Nissan and the manual is 70w 80.
I expect if you are running an auto then the garage may make decisions on the viscosity based on location??

if there is a whining noise when driving and incenses with speed may be a scrunched bearing in the gearbox. 128000m gearbox Center changed and so far Ok
I get noise when driving in most gears with my 1.5dci 90bhp, and it pops out of second. Would this be a new bearing, or a new gearbox?.

I changed the oil the other day to 75/80 and it has quietened the whining down a tad, but it still pop's out of second and scrunches a bit. I can get a recon box for £395, but I am not sure without taking the box off it is a dual mass flywheel, as I want to change the clutch and flywheel the same time.

Dual mass seems a lot more expensive, any way or place I can find out if it is dual mass or solid flywheel?.

Thanks.

What is the point of using a recon gearbox with a 12mth warranty? Are new gearboxes so expensive or are ancillary parts what actually fail? What am I missing?

Yes, a new one was very expensive.
Did you get this sorted? Mine was jumping out of second, so I replaced the bottom stabiliser and it cured that. However, there was terminal damage to the gearbox and it locked up...where do you get a recon for £395?
